“When I arrived in Marrakech, I had no idea what to expect of a training camp in a country I did not know. But I completely trusted Nigel. And I was right: he organized everything perfectly: a charming hotel in a quiet, relaxing environment, airport transfer, breakfast waiting at the hotel after early arrival by plane, different rides adapted to the small group, taking care of the group’s needs , adapting the program to weather and riders’ conditions, etc. And he joined the “work” (training) and with a recreational part: fun day on mountain bikes, guided city bike tour to experience traffic in Marrakech, etc. A truly unforgettable training camp and holiday – I’ll be back in 2015 (and 2016!)” Barbara Liardet
Put the well traveled routes behind you and enjoy the adventure and pleasure of riding in Morocco
Our cycling holidays & tours are for the discerning cyclist , there is a real feeling of adventure but above all they are fun. In Morocco you will ride in fabulous surroundings, departing from Marrakesh through the foothills and into the Atlas mountains to climb the famous Oukaïmeden(2300), a ski resort in the Atlas mountains near Jebel Toubkal, about 80 kilometres from Marrakesh. We will then circumnavigate the Atlas around Toubkal Crossing the Tizi n'Test (2092m) an awe-inspiring pass that crosses the Atlas and connects to Taroudant and Taliouine. Cutting right through the heart of the Atlas, the road was blasted out of the mountains by the French from 1926 to 1932 – the first modern route to link Marrakesh with the Souss plain and the desert. We then cross through the Souss plain with the desert to our south, the scenery is stunning. Finally before returning to Marrakesh we re-cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka (2260m) known as the gateway of the Sahara Desert, a mountain pass linking Marrakesh to the city of Ouarzazate.
Day one: Arrival and hotel transfer before briefing with an evening meal.
Day two: On our first day of riding from the Atlas foothills we climb into the high Atlas to coqueur and then descend the Oukaïmeden . 106km 2336m
Day Three: We spend our third day in the beautiful Ouirgane Valley below Toubkal the highest peak in Morocco, passing through gorges and climbing into the Atlas and on to the Tizi n'Test one of Africa's iconic climbs. 104km 2089m
Day Four: as we descend the Tizi n'Test to the Souss plain the view we take your breath away. We then make a left to ride across the base of the Atlas towards the oasis like town of Taliouine dominated by hills and the impressive Glaoui kasbah. Taliouine is the African centre of l’or rouge (red gold) – saffron, the world’s most expensive spice. We spend the night at a traditional Kasbah on the edge of town. 109km 853m
Day Five: We make a memorable day climbing on to the Souss-Massa the Mars like region between mountain and desert, this ride will stay with you and I cannot wait to ride again through this unique landscape. 150km 1774m
Day Six: We climb the Tizi n'Tichka and descend the other side rolling down the Zat Valley to the Marrakech plain below the Atlas, a magical ride through ever changing scenery.
Day Seven: Depart for the Airport.
We stay in comfortable accommodation on route, often in the authentic Berber country style surrounded by olive trees and insight of the snow capped Atlas Mountains, you can relax after your ride a listen to the call to pray before an evening with your companions or at your leisure. Daily you will be provided with a communal cyclists breakfast, and a nutritious evening meal. Daytime stops will be at shared expense along the way sampling local pancakes, breads and olives, moroccan coffee and mint tea.
There will be many opportunities to stop and enjoy the scenery and take pictures.
We will have an opportunity to visit a hammam and Souk with an evening in the Jemaa el Fna square where after watching the sunset from a balcony bar we walk among the snake charmers, vendors and story tellers. You can sit down with locals to sample the spice tea and cake.
We want this tour to be a social experience where you will meet new fiends and make great memories. We look forward to seeing you in the Atlas Morocco, once ridden never forgotten...

Bike Basque in collaboration with BPM coaching organise unique cycling tours, in both the Pyrenees and the Basque Country.
We love the Pyrenees for its wide choice of epic & historic climbs such as the Tourmalet and the Aubisque which have regularly featured in the Tour de France since its conception.
With Bike Basque you can ride across the Pyrenees from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean or alternatively tour in the Pyrenees conquering climbs from a base within the "circle of death" surrounded by the most famous climbs of the Pyrenees.
The less discovered Basque Country is also a region big climbs such as the Mayo, Olano, Sanchez. Between sea & mountains you’ll be amazed by the coastal routes and the beautiful challenging wooded climbs that link the villages on route. With more michelin star region restaurants here than in other region in the world there is great authentic Basque cuisine to be enjoyed by every pocket.
